Emirates-CAE Flight Training (ECFT), a joint venture between Emirates and CAE, provides pilot and maintenance technician training for operators of commercial, business, and civil helicopter aircraft in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania, and South America.
ECFT is the first training center of its kind in the Middle East to be approved by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). ECFT works in close collaboration with more than 20 different National Aviation Authorities to ensure that their specific requirements also are fulfilled.
ECFT offers training at two campuses. The current training center, located at the Emirates Aviation College campus near Dubai International Airport, officially opened in 2003 with six FFS bays and has now expanded to operation of 12 full-flight simulators. Training is provided for Airbus A320/ACJ; Boeing 737 NG/BBJ; Boeing 777; Bombardier Global Express, Challenger 604, and 605; Dassault Falcon 7X, 900EX EASy, and 2000EX EASy; Gulfstream IV, V, and 550; Hawker Beechcraft 800, 800XP, and 800 XCPi; and Bell Helicopter 212 and 412 aircraft types. Global Vision 5000/6000 training will be available in 2015.
In 2012, ECFT opened a new training facility in the world-class commercial park, "Dubai Silicon Oasis." The facility houses four full-flight simulator (FFS) bays serving commercial airline clients, with plans to expand to as many as 10 bays. The first FFSs installed will replicate the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 families of aircraft.
